Ground levers.- Automatically reversing ground levers for railway points are formed with an horizontal bell - crank lever having one arm forked and actuated by the hand-lever and the other arm connected to the points and to an adjustable spring retaining-device. Fig. 2 shows a plan of one form, in which the vertical hand-lever b engages the forked arm of the bell-crank lever a, which is pivoted at c and connected to the point tongues by a rod d; the spring retaining-device g comprises a rod f pivoted to the bell-crank and working in a pivotally-mounted sleeve i against the action of a spring. The tension of the spring can be adjusted by a nut h. The hand-lever b is protected by a guard, or it is normally retained in a vertical position by springs, and the forked end of the bell-crank lever modified accordingly. By attaching the rod d to the arm a at a suitable point, the lever can be converted to one of the one-way kind, which can be held over in the reverse position by hand.
