Abstract

22,598. Benkiser &. Co. Oct. 12, 1909, [Convention date]. Lift valves; actuating; repairing; outlets.-Relates to cocks or taps of the type comprising a main and a secondary valve, the main valve being situated within and operated by a screwed outlet sleeve, and normally holding open the secondary valve, but allowing it to close when the main valve is withdrawn for repairs. The main valve h, Fig. 2, is secured by a screw i to the hub of spider supports k, which rest normally, as shown, on a chamfered part of the outlet d, but can be turned by means of the attached stem m opposite to vertical grooves f for the purpose of withdrawal from the outlet d. The stem m is slotted to receive bent plates l, Figs. 2 and 7, forming a splash-preventing device. The secondary valve o is guided by two cross-guides p, and closes downwards on the upper edge of the valve seating b when the main valve is withdrawn.
