Ammonium carbonate.-In making ammonium carbonate by the reaction of ammonia, carbon dioxide, and steam at a temperature higher than that at which ammonium carbonate decomposes, and then cooling the mixture, the heating is effected by passing the ammonia or the carbon dioxide or both through heated water. The quantity of steam required for the reaction is regulated by regulating the temperature of the water.
