Abstract

9177. Bueb, J., and Deutsche Continental-Gas-Ges. April 15. Ammonium carbonate is obtained by heating separately ammonia carbonic acid, and steam to a temperature above that at which ammonium carbonate can be produced, then mixing them by passing through a tube of small bore and condensing in cooling-chambers, which may contain hollow internally-cooled plates. The quantity of steam is varied according to the product desired, percentage of ammonia in the product being inversely proportional to the quantity of steam employed, and varying from about 20-40 per cent. The ammonia and carbonic acid may be obtained from gas liquor.
