Abstract

Mines, marine.-Relates to mines of the kind in which two or more mines are connected together by a cable, which, when struck by a ship causes the explosive chambers to become disconnected from the flotation chambers, to lie against the side of the ship, and to be fired by a time fuse. According to the invention, the explosive chamber D is caused to move upwards from the flotation chamber A, being pulled out by the connecting-cable F. The continued pull tightens a chain G<1> connecting a rod g to the flotation chamber A, compresses the spring g<3>, shears a pin g<2> releasing the hammer g<4> and firing the time fuse G<2>, and finally shears the pin g<1> thus entirely disconnecting each explosive chamber from its flotation chamber.
