19,566. Guindon, J. B. A., and Belair, I. Aug. 20. Breech actions, sliding breechblock. - Consists in a special rotary magazine and in a charger therefor. The magazine is formed of hinged halves 56, Fig. 30, adapted to hold cartridges on the inner surface, and to be clamped around the breechframe as shown in Figs. 38 and 39. The invention is specially intended for under-lever boltactions. The magazine is rotated step by step by ratchet mechanism, and at each step the uppermost cartridge drops by gravity into position in front of the breech-bolt. Ratchet mechanism is provided for preventing the return movement of the operating-lever 21 before the opening movement is completed. The loading- device 155, Fig. 44, has a number of longitudinal grooves and a base-plate 156 with retaining-fingers 157. To load the empty magazine, it is clamped around the charged spool, the baseplate is partly rotated to release the cartridges, and the charger is removed.
