18,953. Best, R. H., and Williams, H. Aug. 12. Bungs. - Relates to a stopper for casks &c. A packing-ring d of cork, leather, &c., or a divided metal ring, is confined between two conical plates a, b, of which the lower is fixed to a screw c and the upper is loose upon it and can be pressed downwards by a disk-like nut f engaging the screw c. The ring d is thus expanded laterally against the walls of the vessel. A spring g is placed between the nut f and the plate b. A head h on the screw c prevents the detachment of the nut f.
