Cutting - edges, treating; gearwheels, grinding.- A machine for grinding cutters, hobs, and gearwheels is constructed with head and tail stocks on a sliding bed, between which is mounted the work, and with a gauge - disk accurately mounted with its surface in the plane of the axis of the stocks, and means for accurately setting the grinding-disk to this gauge disk. A bed 40 mounted so as to be moved to and fro longitudinally by a handlever 43 carries a head-stock 53 and a tail-stock 97 between which is to be mounted the cutter or gearwheel. The head-stock is provided with indexing-mechanism which may be adjusted to the plane of the centring-spindles 61. Above the bed is mounted on the tool head 4 a disk 30, of which the plane face 31 is accurately set to the axis of the centring-spindles 61; and the grinding-disk 24, which is vertically and axially adjustable, is set with the aid of a straightedge or the like to the plane of the disk 30. A pump 119 and delivery pipe 109 supply water to the work, and means are provided to prevent the water from reaching the bearings of the machine. A trimming - diamond is also mounted in a lug on the tail-stock.
