Abstract

16,549. Spengel, H. G. July 11. Bore-hole apparatus.- In rotary deep - horing apparatus, the drill - rod couplings b are provided with rings a to form guiding surfaces. Holes f allow the passage of the return water, and additional holes m convey water from the interior of the rods to a groove n to lubricate the guide surfaces. In a modification the guide rings are rotatably mounted on the couplings which are then each in two separable parts. At least two guide couplings are placed so as to form with the boring-crown at least three points of support in a length of rod short enough to be substantially rigid.
