Piston packing.-Means for adjusting the packing-ring in a piston or piston valve consists of a screwed ring A with a flanged end, which fits around the piston body and is held by a pin C. A conical ring B screws on to the ring A and engages an outstanding conical surface on the segmental packing-ring D. The flange on the ring A engages with the packing-ring to prevent relative movement. The rings A, B are locked by longitudinal pins. The joints of the segments are covered by pieces E.
