Abstract

14,064. Brown, P. Stuart-, and Brown, H. J. Stuart-. June 10. Packing tin foil &c.-Tea chests &c. are lined with metal foil A, for instance, tin, lead, or aluminium foil, protected by an envelope B of paper, parchment, &c. interposed between the foil and the box, the edges C of the paper &c. B being folded over the edges of the foil so that there at least four plies of paper &c. and two plies of foil at the joint. The envelope B serves as a protection against corrosion of the foil A in transit, i.e. before being fitted in the tea-chest; it serves also as a stiffening for handling the foil, and allows an air-tight joint to be made between the sheets of foil.
