Locking nuts.-In lock nuts of the kind described in Specification 26,380/09 for securing detachable wheels, the spring-pressed pins I, Fig. 2, which act in conjunction with the catches K for holding the sliding ring H in the position in which the spring-pressed pawls F are clear of the ratchet rack D<3> on the detachable wheel hub, are parallel to the axis of the wheel: and the springs of the pawls Fact also to return the sliding ring to a position in which the pawls are ready to engage the ratchet rack, when, in the process of unscrewing the nut, the inclined surfaces E" on the nut force the catches K away from the heads of the pins. Screws G, connected to the sliding ring, pass through the pawls and their springs and have flat heads which lie in recesses in the pawls and form an abutment to limit the outward movement thereof as well as to prevent their rotation. The ratchet rack is channelled at D<4> to provide a plain bearing for the pins.
