Abstract

Scrubbers. - Relates to the construction of rotors for apparatus of the kind in which a casing is fitted with an internal rotary part dipping into water at bottom of the casing, a current of air passing through the upper part of the casing. In one arrangement a sheet is wound spirally on shaft disks A. Holes are formed in the sheet to correspond radially with holes in the circumferences of the disks, and sleeves or ferrules C are passed through the holes to hold the sheet in position. These sleeves may be provided with flanges or projections as shown in Fig. 2, or they may be screw-threaded to engage each other as shown in Fig. 4. In another form, the ferrules engage each other by joints similar to a bayonet joint; or they may be formed with rims or tongues f as shown in Fig. 6. Fig. 7 shows another form in which the lower part of each ferrule may be split. A rod H is passed through the ferrules to hold them in position. Fig. 10 shows an arrangement in which the sheet is wound on screwed rods J which are screwed outwards as the layers are wound on. The layers are distanced by washers g<1>.
