Ball mills.-In ball or pulverizing mills for use in the dry-grinding of potters' materials &c., the grinding-cylinder a is supported by means of end disks e on rollers d carried by shafts s, and the stationary pipe j through which the finely-ground material is withdrawn is provided with a stuffing-box and gland j<1>. The settling- chamber k is fitted with a sieve k<1> to prevent material from passing to the fan o, and its lower part has converging sides terminating in a small chamber provided with a regulating- shutter m and with a contracted end to which a sack &c. may be secured. The cylinder a is lined with porcelain, silex, or quartz g, and the material may be introduced by a feed-shoot i, or fed to the mill from a stone crusher or granulator by a worm or other conveying-device.
