Abstract

10,437. Lake, H. W., [Winchester Repeating Arms Co.]. April 28. Breech actions, sliding breech-block. - Relates to small-arms of the kind in which the breech-bolt pivots about its forward end to lock and unlock it, and consists in providing the bolt at the front (1) with a circular projecting nose 16 supporting the bolt in the forward position, and (2) with an inclined stop-face 18 below the nose. In the construction shown the bolt is supported, when not in the closed position, by a side projection 13 on the bolt and a groove in the breech frame. It is admitted in the Specification that a tilting breech-bolt having an inclined stop-face on its upper part, and a projecting nose which does not support the weight of the bolt, is already known.
