Abstract
9259. Tamini, O. April 16. Spirometers.-In apparatus for showing the quantities of air inhaled and exhaled and for indicating the movement of the diaphragm, the air inhaled through a filter B<5> and a tube B' rotates a fan or turbine B<2> connected to the indicator B, air exhaled through a pipe C<3> rotates the fan or turbine C<2> connected to the indicator C, while the movement of the diaphragm presses back a pad E<4> against a spring E<7> so that a ratchet E<5> rotates a pinion E<6> connected by flexible shafting D<2> to the indicator D. The casing A is detachably mounted on an adjustable tripod A', and may be provided with a clock H, drawers A<2>, and a magnifying- mirror F for viewing the movements of the throat and shoulders. The frame E is strapped to the body, and comprises a rigid front E<2> and a flexible back E<3>.
