Abstract

9238. Wootton, O. J. April 16. Locks, preventing operation of; key-pins.- The key-pin, or the centre for the key, is provided on a movable plate which can be operated by hand from outside the casing to carry the key-pin away from the key-hole and thereby prevent the operation of the lock by the key. The plate also serves to block the bolt in either the shot or the withdrawn position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the key-pin a is mounted on a pivoted plate A, which has an operating- knob a<3> passing through a slot b in the casing, and a lug a<5> adjusted to co-act with a lug d on the bolt to secure the latter. A catch a<6> on the knob-spindle holds the plate A in the operative position. In a modification, the plate has two lugs engaging projections on, or gatings in, the bolt, and is retained in either position by a spring. Keyholes, obstructing.-The plate A may have an extension a<4> adapted to close the keyhole when the plate is moved.
