8591. Whitley, J. C. April 9. Plastic compositions containing fibres and india-rubber. -A plastic composition consists of india-rubber and cork. The cork is deprived of water by heating, pressed, and ground, and mixed with rubber in the proportions of, say, 3 or 4 parts of rubber to 1 part of cork. The mixture is rolled or pressed, and may be vulcanized. The composition is suitable for making soles and heels or heel pads for boots, and for paving, flooring, roofing, or insulating purposes.
