Chambers.-A drying-chamber of the type having a vertical series of independent doors is provided with a series of angular supports for frames to carry hides and skins for use in tanyards, and is made of metal so that it is fireproof and prevented from warping. The rear and side walls of the stove and a front frame 2 are secured to pillars 6. At the sides, vertical angle- or channel-irons 9 have in their flanges inclined bearing-slots 11 and bolt-holes 12. Interior side walls of sheet metal pressed out to form horizontal faces 17 are secured to the inner faces of the pillars; these faces guide and support the drying-frames. Above the pillars are metal plates 18, which are secured to them, and to which the cover 22 of the apparatus is secured; the bottom of the apparatus is formed by the floor of the room containing it. The sheet-metal doors have strengthening-wires at top and bottom, the bottom wires 28 resting in the slots 11; the doors also carry sliding bolts engaging the holes 12. The space between two doors is covered, when they are closed, by a plate 35 at the bottom of the upper one.
