Abstract
8009. Johnson, J. Y., [Philadelphia Textile Machinery Co.]. April 2. Chambers; carrier bands.-A drying-chamber divided by a longitudinal partition into a drying- compartment containing an endless band, and an air-heating compartment with steam-pipes, is constructed entirely of metal with detachable standards and detachable fireproof panels. The band conveyer B passes round sprocket wheels driven through worm or other gearing. The sides of the chamber are provided with detachable standards C, C<1> and panels D; the uprights C<1>, Fig. 5, are made by riveting two angle-bars together, while the uprights C comprise angle-bars c<1> and a plate c, and may have a lining of asbestos secured and en-' closed by a plate c<3> lapping over the edges of the angle-bars. The panels D are constructed like the uprights C, and are secured to the uprights C, C<1> by eccentric clamp-bolts. The uprights C support bearing - brackets for fan shafts E<1>, the fans rotating in openings in the partition a between the air - heating and drying compartments so that the air is circulated transversely. The airheating pipes G are mounted on chairs constructed as shown, the pipes resting on channel members i<2>.
