Equalizing load; systems depending on the use of auxiliary machines.-In equalizing and other systems depending upon the use of a polyphase induction motor a, the rotor current of which is converted into continuous current by means of a rotary converter or motorgenerator c and supplied to a continuouscurrent machine geared to or directly-coupled to the motor shaft, the motor a is started by means of resistances d connected in series between the motor slip-rings and the alternating - current side of the converter. The motor a is started with the resistance d in circuit, the field of the machine b is then excited, and the machine c runs into step with the motor a. The machine b may be shunt, series, or separately excited. A fly-wheel may be fitted on the shaft of the motor a.
