Abstract

2794. Siemens Bros. Dynamo Works, [Siemens Schuckertwerke]. Feb. 3. Systems depending on the use of two or more machines.-In order to prevent a self-excited rotary-field induction generator g of the kind described in Specification 28,081/10 from losing its field when working with varying frequency and a varying field, a second rotary-field induction machine s, which is strongly magnetized and works on the upper part of its magnetic characteristic, is connected in circuit with the main generator; the field of the auxiliary machine remains substantially constant while the frequency is altered. The auxiliary machine may be a polyphase commutator series or shunt machine, Fig. 1, or an asynchronous motor with a short-circuited rotor, and may be mechanically driven, allowed to run light, or drive a load; one of the main motors m may be strongly magnetized, and may act as the steadying- machine. A slip-ring induction machine coupled with a frequency converter may be employed as the main generator.
