Abstract

4581. Stefan, C. Feb. 23. Springs, arrangement of and mounting bodies and undercarriages on; guiding vertical play. -The bodies of automobiles are mounted upon their axles through the intermediary of levers which are arranged so that, while the vehicle is in motion, the load is made to bear on the front portion of the axle, considered in relation to the direction of motion. with a view to utilizing the vibrations of the vehicle for aiding the propulsion. In the form shown, the body of a tramcar is mounted on levers n which are connected to springs p and to links m, m<1>, which are connected in the manner shown to pins i, k and i<1>, k<1> formed respectively on bell-crank levers f, f<1>, which are mounted to rock on projections d, d<1> and bear at their lower ends against projections h provided on the axle-box. When the vehicle is in motion, the load is borne by either of the levers f, f<1> through its pins i, k or i<1>, k<1> according to the direction of travel.
