Abstract
4318. Thomson, H. C. Feb. 21. Press-button switches.-A distortible conducting member, such as an annular coiled spring 17, Fig. 2, is mounted upon, and kept in position by, a plunger or press-button 13, the longitudinal movement of which produces a change in the dimensions of the member, whereby it is caused to make contact with, and electrically connect, the fixed contacts 9, 9<a>. Fig. 6 shows another form of press-button switch, in which the member 40 is flattened until it touches the contacts 41, 42. Fig. 4 shows the invention embodied in a switch, the plunger of which has no tendency to move back when the operating- force is removed. The plunger is of conducting- material, and engages the fixed contact 24.
