Abstract
4293. Anderson, D., and Worsfold, J. April 6, 1909. Atmospheric gas burners.-In an inverted gas burner, the gas - injection means comprise a sleeve b to which a gas-supply pipe h is connected, a hollow plug f slidable in the sleeve b, and a gas-nipple c which delivers gas in a direction transverse to the sleeve. The plug f is preferably ground in gas-tight, and recessed out in the middle to form an annular space g, from which gas passes through one or more apertures k to the nipple. A cap n encloses the gas-plug, and a suitable pin and incline on the plug f and sleeve b ensure that the nipple is in the correct position when the plug is forced home. The air supply is regulated by rotating a collar o. The gas supply may be regulated by means of a screw pin r. When used with high-pressure gas, the tube carrying the nipple is continued back to the end of the hollow plug, which has one or more fine holes therein to prevent the pressure from entering the gas injector too suddenly when turned on. In a modification, the passage k is in a line with the mixing-tube, the nipple being then situated in the plug itself.
