Abstract
3468. Hollingworth, E., [Crompton & Knowles Loom Works]. Feb. 12. Weft - replenishing mechanism; checking shuttles and pickers; shuttle boxes; pickers.- In over-pick looms, the magazine 33, Fig. 2, is inclined. upwards and forwards so as to clear the picker arm 10, and the picker 12, Fig. 4, is guided on a rear rod 39<1>, Figs. 2 and 4, and a lower front rod 38<1>, whereby clearance is given to the lower part of the magazine when the lay is in its forward position, and the top of the shuttle is left clear and free for the bobbintransfer. A stationary single - compartment magazine or, as shown, a multi-compartment magazine, may be used; in the latter case, the upper part is inclined, while swinging parts 33<1> hinged thereto are rocked by lever connexion with the box-lifter rod. The picker or shuttle check may comprise a spring-actuated lever 17 provided with a leather band or facing 17<1>.
