Abstract

3415. Kantorowicz, J. May 21, 1909, [Convention date]. Flake or sheet products, obtaining.-Flaked starch-containing materials are prepared from corn, potatoes, and other starch-containing bulbs, roots, fruit, flour, starch-flour, &c. by reducing them to a pulp and passing the mass into a vessel containing rollers placed side by side, so that, on rotation, a thin layer of the pulped material is obtained. The rollers are heated by internal steam or vapour pipes, and the flakes are removed from the rollers by suitably-arranged knives.
