470. Berthier, A. P. V. M. Sept. 19, 1908, [Convention date]. Machine - rests for. - Relates to rests having two legs pivoted near the muzzle, and consists (1) in making each leg of two parts 7, 8 hinged together so that the height of the rest can be varied, and (2) in pivoting these legs to a socket 2 which fits over the muzzle end of the barrel. The hinge-pin 10 passes through a slot 11 in the upper part, thus allowing a limited longitudinal movement, and, to prevent the support from collapsing when used in the extended position, a projection 15 on the lower part fits into a recess 16 in the upper part. In order to fold the legs, the parts must first be separated for a short distance.
