Abstract

76. Autolock Safety Cock and Bolt Co., and Favero, M. July 1. Plug cocks. - A plug cock is provided with a s p r i n g for automatically returning it to the closed position. T h e plug b is formed with a stem d to which is rigidly attached a washer l carrying a pin m. Threaded on the stem d are two washers i, j, Figs. 4 and 5, to which are secured the ends of a spring e which surrounds the stem d. Pins k, n, o are rigidly secured to the plug and casiug as shown. If the plug is turned in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 4, the pin k rotates the washer i and with it the spring, the lower washer j being held stationary by the pin o, Fig 5. If the plug is rotated in the opposite direction the upper washer i remains stationary, the lower washer j being turned by the pin m. The spring is thus partly wound up on rotation of the plug in either direction.
