29,438. MacDonald, T. Dec. 16. Fatty oils, extracting by pressure. A machine for treating seeds for the production of oil and oil-cakes comprises a drum 1, Fig. 7, a number of rollers 5 ... 12 surrounding the drum, and belts 13, 14, one running round the drum 1 and the roller 5, and the other round the rollers 6 ... 12, so that the seeds are compressed between them. The drum 1 is flanged, and is provided with a perforated hollow' shaft 2 for the admission of steam. Tensioning-devices are provided for the adjustment of the belts. The belts are made of fabric and are provided with metal ribs for scoring the slab of oil-cake. Branding-devices may also be secured to the drum 1. The belts may be strengthened by wire, ropes, chains, steel belts, &c. 25, 30, Fig. 10, and may in this case be formed of strips 27, 29 of wood, metal, &c. threaded on the ropes. In order to provide for the formation of biscuits or nuts, the bars 27 of the belt 13 are furnished with pockets 28, coacting with dies 31 on the bars 29 composing the belt 14. The roller 5 is in this case formed with projections 32 which dislodge the biscuits from the pockets 28.
