Indicating, optical devices for.-In a dynamometer, the relative movement between the first and last half-couplings of a flexible length of shafting deflects a mirror M, Fig. 3, which is mounted upon two spring arms X, X<1>, through a rod G, a spring plate J, and an arm F. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the mirror is mounted upon pivots Y, Y<1>, and is rocked by the connexions G, J, F as before. A stationary mirror is provided in order to eliminate errors in the readings due to the longitudinal movement of the shafting as a whole. The reflected beam from a lamp P, Fig. 5, falls on the transparent adjustable scale S, which is viewed through a slot in the screen R.
