Abstract
28,193. Ferranti, S. Z. de. Dec. 2. Plug cocks; packing, methods of; seats.- A spherical controlling - member, applicable to devices of the kind described in Specifications 21,032/04, 8887/06, 6079/07, [Class 54, Gas distribution], and 5344/08, is made up of two or more relatively movable spherical segments. Figs. 2 and 10 show the spherical member built up of three segments h, d, h, the outer segments h being pressed outwards by springs i and capable of rotation. Fig. 5 shows the spherical member built up of two parts u pressed against their seatings by springs v. The operating-spindle l has a tongue-and-groove connexion with the valve, and is packed by a collar m and rings o. q held tight by a spring p, and its motion is limited by stops t, s on the spindle and casing respectively. When the casing is made in one piece as shown in Fig. 9, one of the seats j' is fitted into a removable screw-threaded part 2.
