Abstract

27,094. Weir, W. Feb. 3. Steam-engine air-pumps in series.-Relates to improvements in air-pumps for surface condensers of the kind described in Specification 20,202/05, and consists in making the dry airpump or pumps discharge into the wet pump above the bucket at the highest point but below the head valve; in using injection cooling-water for suction of dry pumps; and in adapting an air-pump set of this improved type for actuation bv an electric motor and for use in stationary plants. The dry pumps 1, 2 are connected with the condenser 13 by a pipe 17 and have pipes 21, 22 for injection cooling- water, the discharge being by pipes 19, 20 into the wet pump 3. An electric motor 4 actuates the pumps through cranks 7.
