Multi-stage srew pumps; casings.- The stationary diaphragms in screw pumps are tapered in the direction of flow, as shown in a multi-stage pump in Fig. 1, so that shoulders A are provided to prevent back-flow from the next impeller 9. The diaphragms may be formed of two wedge-shaped rings 7 joined by wedge-shaped spokes, and secured between adjacent sections of the casing 1, and between adjacent impeller hubs 10. The inlet and the outlet of the pump are divided by webs 17, Fig 4. The impellers 9 work close against the diaphragms, and are of the double - threaded screw type. Two pump sets may be arranged to work in parallel or in series.
