Abstract

Printing-apparatus; offset machines. -Relates to means for obtaining correct proofs from the non-reversed primary printing-plates used in lithographic transfer printing. The stone is held by bolts r in the bed l, to which is pivoted a frame o adapted to support an india-rubber transfer blanket k, which folds down over the stone beneath the usual tympan (not shown). The blanket k is clamped at one end to the bar e and at the other to a bar h adjusted on extensions g of the frame o by nuts h<1>. The design is damped and inked by hand in the usual way, and an impression taken on the blanket k. The stone is then covered with a sheet of paper and the paper to receive the impression is placed on top. The blanket k and the tympan is then folded down, and an impression taken from the blanket k on to the upper surface of the sheet. In a modification, the blanket k and the tympan are secured in the same frame.
