Post files; covers.-Relates to loose-leaf books or binders of the type comprising a number of sets of mating filing-prongs, opposing prongs being carried by plates fitting within marginal flanges of a bowed spring plate and having their inner edges in contact, the spring plates serving to hold the prongs in either closed or open position. The combined width of the prong-carrying plates 15, 16 is made greater than the distance between the flanges on the spring plate 19. The plates 15, 16 abut on their inner edges and are recessed at 22 to engage bevelled locking-studs 21, which act as bearings for the plates 15, 16 and are fixed on a plate 20, which is itself attached to a plate 23 located in the back 12 of the cover, preferably by lugs turned up from the plate 23. The prongs 13, 14 are fixed to the plates 15, 16, preferably by perforating the plates and striking them up as shown at 33 to form a recess for receiving the flattened end 30 of the prong, fingers 31, 32 being struck out of the plates and folded round the prong end. Solder may also be applied. Large recesses 28 are formed adjacent to the recesses 22 to enable the plate 20 with the studs 21 to be placed in position, the plates 15, 16 being preferably slightly cut away at 29. The prongs may be forced apart by pressing the back 12, and are closed by direct pressure.
