Abstract

24,307. Down, H. L., and Telephos, Ltd. Oct. 16. Drawings to Specification. Lighting burners by electric devices; pilot jets.- The Specification describes certain forms of the electrically-operated apparatus for lighting and extinguishing gas valves from a distance described in Specification 21,887/08, in which an electro-magnet controls rotary-disk and lift valves admitting gas to main and auxiliary burners respectively, and a platinum-wire igniter is heated by the electric current. The claims are limited to the arrangement and construction of the auxiliary burner and platinum-wire igniter. The burner is of the Bunsen type, and his two tubes leading to it which serve as conductors to the igniter, being supported and connected in an insulated manner. The ends of the tubes are flattened and pass through an insulating block below which the igniting-filament is supported, its ends being fixed in the ends of the tubes. Holes in the tubes above the block supply gas to Bunsen tubes which are carried by the block and support guards for the filament. Specifications 29,345/04 and 1453/08 are also referred to.
