Steering.-An elevator for an aeroplane machine comprises a series of superposed vanes a of upwardly increasing lengths, the forward end being pivoted at b to an inclined part of the frame, and the rear end being connected to a vertical rod c adjustable by a hand-lever d. When the rear end of the planes a is raised, each plane moves through a greater angle than the plane immediately below it, so that the perpendicular distance between the front of the planes becomes increased, whereby the planes are caused to converge towards the rear. In a modification, the rear of the planes is hinged to a fixed part of the frame, and the front of the planes is connected to an inclined adjustable rod.
