Stopping tubes.-Defective boiler tubes are isolated by a stopper comprising a central bolt B with a conical head B<1>, conical sleeves D, E, F supporting soft metallic rings J, K, and a distance-tube I. The rings J, K are expanded against the boiler - tube C by the cones on tightening a nut H, the device being held against rotation by a nut G having a feather and groove engagement G<1> with the bolt B.
