Abstract

19,285. Nuttall, J. Aug. 21. [Addition to 7111/09.] S w i v e l l i n g joints.-The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by providing a hollow stem 2 with a head 3 thereon, such as is described in that Specification, at each end of the cylinder, the heads being adjustably held between pairs of fixed bearings as before. The steam or other fluid enters by the pipe 6 through openings in the bearing 5 and the head into the cylinder. The outlet pipe for water of condensation passes through the other trunnion stem and head, and connects with the pipe 7. The bearings 4, 5 may be connected by spring-pressed bolts, and the shape of the heads 3 may be varied as described in the parent Specification.
