Abstract

18,346. Rountree, J. Aug. 9. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical springs. - Tubular spokes 9, Figs. 1 and 2, contain helical springs 12 supporting plungers 15 bearing against the edge 17 of an annular web on the rim, guided in the slotted ends of the spokes. The head 16 of the plunger is grooved and screws into an adjustable block 11, which fits the spoke closely so as to form an auxiliary air cushion therein. The spokes are held in semicircular depressions 8 formed in two plates 6, which are bolted between fixed and detachable hub flanges.
