Abstract
17,672. Dahl, O. M. July 30. Movable-abutment type of rotary pump with gyratory piston driven through a resilient connexion. An annular piston 18 is pivoted by a pin 25 to a plate 24, which can slide vertically in a pocket 5 and through a slot in the annular flange 12 of the casing. Grooves 26 on the sides of the plate allow escape of the fluid trapped in the pocket 5. Ports 8, 9 are provided in the casing on each side of the plate; and ports 20, 21, Fig. 11, are similarly disposed in the piston, so that both internal and external working chambers are employed. The piston is driven from a shaft 28 through a resilient connexion which, while securing good contact between the piston and the casing, allows the piston to pass over grit and other foreign substances without injury to the pump. A pin 34, engaging a recess 23 in the disk of the piston, is secured to a semicircular plate 33, pressed outwardly by springs 36 in a slot formed in a disk 27 which is secured to the shaft 28.
