Abstract

16,817. Reynolds, H. J. July 19. Damping-machines.-In a machine for closing envelopes, comprising a conical damping-wheel B, a co-acting roller H, and a guide above the damping-wheel, the envelope is placed astride an inverted V-shaped plate E, which is adjustably secured to the frame by a screw 2 and slot. The water vessel A<2> has a high back D, and the damping-wheel B is wholly below the top edge of the back. The envelope flap passes between the wheel B and the roller H, which is mounted in a spring fork G adjusted by a screw I.
