Abstract
15,308. Winter, C. Dec. 15, 1908. Capsules and the like, applying.-Relates to machines for applying bottle seals, and particularly to those having sealing-heads of the type described in Specification 27,222/08. According to the present invention, the machines are adapted to be used indiscriminately with bottles of different sizes without preliminary adjustment. The sealing- head I is mounted on a counterbalanced carriage F adapted to be moved up and down a vertical standard B by rack - and - pinion gearing. The carriage F a n d counterweight P are connected by a chain O passing over a pulley N. The pinion is rotated by a hand-wheel. The bottle is placed on a stand C and centred below the sealing-head by a guide or stop E, adjustable on the standard by means of a thumb-screw e, and at the other end by a forked piece e<1> movable in a slot and fixed by a thumb-screw e<2>.
