Turning.-In order to prevent box-tools from becoming choked up with cuttings when used in high-speed turning, the support is arranged opposite the natural passage of the cuttings. The support B, which is integral with the end piece A bolted to the turret, carries the bridge-shaped tool and steady-holder C by means of bolts G, G' in slots. The tool F may be clamped by a bolt J passing through the bolt G, made hollow for the purpose. In order to lubricate the tool &c., a channel H is formed in the support B with outlets H', any of which may be closed. The support B may be made integral with the carrier C, and slide in a dovetail slot in the end piece A.
