Boring-bar machines; boring-bars.-In a machine for boring parallel or taper bolt - holes in shaft - couplings, crossheads, and gudgeon holes in ship's stern posts &c., the boring-bar is supported at each end in an adjustable bearing clamped to the work. Clamps of the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4 are employed according as the work has a circular or square cross-section. One end of the boring-bar L has a ball. L<2> engaging a socket L<3>, which can be adjusted axially or radially. The other end is mounted on a member K<5>, which may be adjustable in a slot in the disk K<1> to vary the eccentricity and thus bore taper holes. The disk K<1> is carried by a spindle K which is mounted in an adjustable block F and rotated by hand or power. The cutting-tool is fed along the bar by the usual means.
