S i g ts.-Relates to distantly-controlled range and deflexion gear of the kind described in Specification 4404/06, and consists in modifying this arrangement so that, instead of the range dial following t h e motor - actuated pointer during the setting of the sight, the range dial and pointer are moved together back to a fixed zero. In the arrangement shown in transverse s e c t i o n in Fig. 2, the range-pointer B is rotated through gearing c, e<Î>, by a motor C controlled from a distance and mounted in a casing C<Î> attached to the range-dial A. The sight A<Î> is elevated by hand through a wheel D, worm gearing d<0>, d<00>, and pinions d<4>, and at the same time a shaft d<2> rotates the casing C<Î> and thereby moves the dial A and pointer B until the pointer is brought back to a fixed zero mark. An exactly similar arrangement is described in connexion with the deflexion pointer B'. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the motor C<1> is attached to a fixed casing C<Î><Î> and rotates a drum B<1> carrying the pointer through worm-gearing c', c<1Î>, pinions c<2Î>, c<3>, and planetwheels c<0>. When the sight is set by means of a hand-wheel A<2>, shaft Ex, and worm E<ÎÎ> the pinion c<3> is held by the gearing c<1>, c<1Î>, and the rotation of a wheel A<ÎÎ> keyed to the shaft E<Î> causes, through the medium of the planet-wheels c<0>, the return of the pointer to the zero position. The zero mark may be adjusted for variations in muzzle velocity. Specification 673/07 is also referred to.
