[Addition to 24,294/08.] Open fire-places.-In a down-draught fireplace of the kind described in the parent Specification, the sides of the fuel-holder a are extended upwards to the canopy b, leaving only narrow inlets d to the side air-passages, which also carry off the smoke &c. rising from the fuel. An air-passage e is also formed at the back of the stove, and the inflowing air meets the combustion products immediately after they leave the aperture a' at the lower end of the grate. The fuel-holder is supported adjustably in the casing f by set-screws h'. A damper h may be fitted in the mouth of the outlet flue g, and other dampers may be fitted in the air inlet passages.
