Abstract
3433. Denis, C. Feb. 17, 1908, [Convention date]. Closed solid - fuel stoves; smoke, consuming.-A closed stove is arranged so as to consume smoke, as in the cooking-range described in Specification 22,736/08. The stove consists of a fire-place 13 in a casing 11, and a series of orifices 14, or a vertical grating, is placed so that some of the combustion products pass through it direct to the chimney F. When the fire is lighted, a damper 15 at the upper end of the fire-place is moved so as to open a direct passage to the flue F, the combustion products passing away as shown by the arrows E. When the damper 15 closes this passage, the greater portion of the combustion products pass over the walls of the fire-place, as shown by the arrows g, thence downwards to passages on each side of the ash-pit, and upwards to the flue F. As they pass upwards the combustion products issuing from the orifices 14 mix with them and consume the smoke. The upcast and downcast flues for this circulation are separated by baffled air-heating channels 20, with air inlets and outlets 22, 25.
