Abstract

11,945. Willing, J. R. May 20. Flash signals.- In a flash-signalling apparatus, t h e oppositelymoving shutters i, k are attached on opposite sides of the pulleys g to four spring - tensioned chains h, so that, when the halyard h<1> to which all these chains are e con nected is pulled, the two shutters move apart and expose the light. The stay from which, on shipboard, the apparatus is suspended by a sliding carriage is kept steady during signalling by guy ropes.
